The UAE is gearing up for the much-anticipated Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026, with the countdown officially underway and just under 100 days left until its launch in February. His Excellency Dr. Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, the Chairman of the UAE Government’s Cyber Security Council, emphasized the significance of the Games as a foremost national event.
Dr. Al-Kuwaiti highlighted that the initiative is set to unite athletes and participants from diverse backgrounds in a celebration of sports, fitness, and camaraderie. He extended an invitation to all members of society to engage in the various activities leading up to the Games via a specially designed application aimed at fostering participation and promoting fitness.
Amid the countdown, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti unveiled an innovative challenge that melds sports with national pride, urging everyone to walk or run an equivalent distance to the span between Earth and Mars — roughly 54 million kilometers. This figure commemorates the 54th anniversary of the UAE’s Union, which is set to be celebrated in December.
This symbolic initiative captures the UAE’s determined spirit and its relentless quest for achievement, not only in space exploration but also in human endeavors. Steps taken by participants will be tracked through the mobile application, creating a collaborative community effort aimed at reaching the ambitious goal.
Dr. Al-Kuwaiti noted that this challenge transcends mere sports, signifying themes of health, teamwork, and national unity. He conveyed that the active involvement of citizens and residents showcases the UAE’s commitment to sustaining health and nurturing a robust workforce, which is crucial for advancing all sectors of the nation.
Emphasizing the importance of sports as a pathway to a healthy lifestyle, he pointed out that the Masters Games remind us of the necessity of physical activity for everyone. By engaging collectively, the UAE community can enhance social bonds and underpin the significance of fitness in daily living.
With over 200 nationalities represented, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti encouraged everyone residing in the UAE to participate in the Games and associated activities. Such a broad involvement demonstrates the nation’s ethos of openness, diversity, and unity among its residents.
The event will not only encourage health and sportsmanship but also position the UAE as a global hub for inclusion and harmony. The Masters Games will accommodate participants across various sporting backgrounds, promising an uplifting experience for both athletes and non-athletes alike.
The Abu Dhabi 2026 Masters Games are set to commence in February 2026, featuring a variety of sports and community events throughout the city. It aims to provide opportunities for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to participate.
As excitement mounts nationwide, it is anticipated that schools, organizations, and communities will join in the step challenge and other fitness initiatives linked to the event. The organizers aspire to ignite a nationwide movement reflecting the UAE’s commitment to health, unity, and advancement.
In closing, Dr. Al-Kuwaiti stressed that the event's success hinges on the collective enthusiasm and cooperation of all in the UAE. He encouraged residents to actively partake in activities, rally behind the athletes, and share in the nation’s pride as it approaches this momentous sporting milestone.
