Dubai Films and Games Commission's Strategic Engagement at Cannes 2026

Dubai Films and Games Commission's Strategic Engagement at Cannes 2026

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Participating in the renowned 79th Cannes Film Festival from 12 to 23 May 2026, the Dubai Films and Games Commission aims to enhance its global footprint in the film industry.

The Commission's goal is to establish sustainable partnerships with international studios and producers, showcasing the vibrant film production culture and skilled talent in Dubai.

A delegation led by CEO Hesham Al Olama engaged with key global industry players during the festival, focusing on potential collaborations and the promotion of international projects in Dubai.

Officials emphasized that Dubai's involvement in Cannes embodies its vision to cultivate a competitive film industry bolstered by modern infrastructure and government support.

Hesham Al Olama noted that being at Cannes marks a pivotal move in Dubai's global film positioning, serving as a critical platform for future partnerships.

Film Commissioner Samr Almarzooqi remarked that the festival enhances Dubai's growing importance in international filmmaking, attracting more attention due to its robust production services.

Dubai is equipped with premier facilities, swift permitting processes, and diverse filming locations, ranging from striking urban landscapes to scenic deserts and beaches.

Having emerged as a key film production hub in the Middle East, Dubai continues to enhance incentives to lure major global productions.

Recent projects in Dubai include Amazon Prime Video's Jack Ryan and Netflix's series Genie, Make a Wish, signifying the city's increasing relevance in the streaming landscape.

This participation is in line with the Dubai Films and Games Commission's broader initiative to foster growth in the film and gaming sectors through global collaborations and regulatory frameworks under the Dubai Media Council.
