Dubai U18 Elite Claims Landmark Victory at Basket Cup Sarajevo 2026

In a groundbreaking achievement, Dubai Basketball’s U18 Elite team has claimed the Basket Cup Sarajevo 2026 title during their inaugural tournament appearance. Held from April 3 to April 5, the event showcased Europe’s top youth teams.

Notably, the Dubai team became the first non-European squad to win the trophy, exhibiting outstanding teamwork, skill, and resolve throughout the event.

Outstanding Journey from Group to Finals

The U18 squad dominated their group stage, achieving significant victories against:

  • Grafičar Ludberg
  • Ilirija Ljubljana
  • Scuola Basket Miky Mian

In the knockout phase, they overcame Maribor Mladi and Murska Sobota in the semi-finals, advancing to the championship match.

The team triumphed in the finals, defeating Ras Beograd with a score of 69–53, led by standout player Luka Malović, who scored 21 points, his highest of the tournament.

Coach's Insights and Team Spirit

Head Coach Irhad Tinjak commended the squad's effort, emphasizing that their win showcases their hard work, cohesion, and the club's mission to put Dubai and the UAE on the global basketball map.
