Post by : Badri Ariffin

Fujairah: The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship's Round 3 (No-Gi) commences this Saturday in Fujairah, signifying a pivotal moment in the current season as top clubs and athletes vie for prominence in the overall rankings.

This championship is fundamental to fostering jiu-jitsu in the UAE, featuring ongoing competitions and strategic initiatives aimed at boosting participation and elevating the sport's standards.

Athletes in this round will have an excellent chance to evaluate their fitness and technical prowess. No-Gi matches are characterized by their rapid tempo, necessitating quick reflexes, decisive actions, and unwavering concentration from competitors. Such conditions enhance their skills and adaptability in diverse competitive contexts.

Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, the Marketing and Corporate Communication Director at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, noted a consistent increase in athlete participation. He expressed that the growing numbers are a testament to successful efforts to broaden the sport and offer more avenues for athletes.

“This rising participation level in championship rounds indicates the sport's advancement. It not only elevates competition but also furnishes athletes with a professional platform for skill enhancement,” he remarked.

Theyab Alnuaimi from Al Ain Club, competing in the adults 62kg brown belt section, highlighted the distinct challenges posed by the No-Gi format. He stated that the rapidity and intensity of the matches demand continuous focus, as even slight mistakes can drastically alter results.

“This format compels athletes to remain vigilant at every moment. It also allows us to experience competition with diverse opponents, enhancing our skills and providing invaluable insights,” he concluded.

The championship solidifies its status as a major highlight in UAE jiu-jitsu events, offering a competitive venue that nurtures athlete development and primes emerging talent for representation at regional and international competitions.
