Fujairah Crown Prince Hosts WFCC President to Advance Chess Initiatives

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Fujairah, UAE — H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, received Marjan Kovacevic, President of the World Federation for Chess Composition (WFCC), at Al Rumaila Palace. The delegation included Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Barkat, Vice President of the WFCC and Chairman of the Fujairah Chess and Culture Club.

In their talks, the Crown Prince underlined Fujairah's intent to strengthen ties with international sports bodies such as the WFCC. He stressed the emirate's drive to cultivate creative reasoning and analytical skills, particularly among younger generations, through intellectual sports like chess.

He added that, guided by H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, the emirate remains committed to supporting cultural and athletic programmes that help develop talent and promote strategic, innovative thinking.

Marjan Kovacevic thanked the Crown Prince for his reception and interest in chess as a vehicle for intellectual growth. He said closer cooperation with Fujairah would enable joint global initiatives to broaden the game's reach both locally and internationally.

The meeting highlighted Fujairah's expanding profile as a centre for cultural and cognitive sports, consistent with the UAE's broader aim to encourage creativity and excellence among its youth.
