Under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the latest edition of the Fujairah Equestrian Championships will occur from November 20 to 29. This event underscores the emirate's dedication to endorsing traditional equestrian sports and enhancing its stature on regional and global platforms. It aims to meld Fujairah’s rich heritage with modernity through activities that resonate with deep cultural significance.
The championships, set against the historical backdrop of Fujairah Fort arena, are organized by the Supreme Committee for Fujairah Equestrian Championships. This initiative is part of the emirate's ongoing endeavors to promote equestrian pursuits and lend support to horse owners and riders both locally and internationally. The goal is to transform Fujairah into a centerpiece for heritage sports that seamlessly blend competition, tradition, and community involvement.
This year's proceedings kick off with the Fujairah International Show Jumping Championship, running from November 20 to 23. Following shortly thereafter is the Fujairah Dressage Championship, set for November 24, which will unfold in a single day. The culmination will be the Fujairah International Arabian Horse Championship, slated for November 27 to 29. Collectively, these events offer a month filled with excitement and elegance, showcasing the artistry of riders and the magnificence of Arabian horses.
A novel feature of this year's championship is the introduction of the “Silver Dagger Award.” This honors stables owned by UAE nationals, acknowledging their dedication to preserving and nurturing the Arabian horse breeds. Furthermore, the coveted “Golden Sword Award” will remain the pinnacle of recognition in the competition, open to all participants. Such awards exemplify Fujairah’s unwavering support for local talent and a commitment to excellence in heritage sports.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Hamdan Al Zeyoudi, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee, remarked that this installment brings forth the vision of His Highness the Crown Prince of Fujairah once more. He articulated that equestrian sports are integral to Arab national identity, serving as a strong cultural beacon. Additionally, he noted that this championship has emerged as one of the region's most anticipated events due to its blend of competitive spirit, cultural richness, and veneration for purebred Arabian horses.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi expressed that these championships are not mere sporting events; they embody a holistic cultural initiative. They foster a sense of national pride and belonging while promoting equestrianism as both a cultural and developmental pursuit. He commended the organizing committee's dedication to ensuring that each edition continues to thrive, aligning with Fujairah’s burgeoning international reputation and adherence to exceptional standards of professionalism.
Ali Musbah Al Kaabi, Vice Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee, also lauded the event, highlighting its affirmation of Fujairah's pivotal role in the global equestrian scene. He remarked that this year's edition distinguishes itself through superior organization, strong participation, and rewarding prizes, all designed to provide an enriched experience for participants and attendees alike. He indicated that these championships bolster Fujairah’s profile as a prime venue for equestrian events, aligning with the emirate’s long-term cultural and sporting visions.
The Fujairah International Arabian Horse Championship is being coordinated under the auspices of the Emirates Arabian Horse Society. Meanwhile, the dressage and show jumping championships are managed with guidance from the Emirates Equestrian and Racing Federation and the International Equestrian Federation. This collaborative effort signifies Fujairah’s commitment to upholding the highest international sports management and event organization standards.
