Dubai Media Retreat Charts Future for Media and Digital Landscape

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In Dubai, the Dubai Media Council convened the Dubai Media Retreat, featuring over 100 high-ranking executives from the global media and digital sectors to envision the future.

Participating firms contribute around $13 billion to the local economy, with industry giants like Amazon, Twitch, Xsolla, Action Films, Boom Town, Epic Films, and Blink Studios active in the conversations.

Discussions focused on critical sectors such as advertising, marketing, film production, gaming, and digital media, tackling challenges, opportunities, infrastructure requirements, talent, regulation, and innovation.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, noted that the media sector is vital to Dubai’s advancement, aiming for one of the world’s foremost competitive media ecosystems.

He linked this vision to the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), intending to enhance the media sector’s contribution to Dubai’s GDP through talent, investment, and innovative strategies.

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri announced an integrated digital platform to launch by year-end, streamlining services and processes for media companies in Dubai.

She emphasized Dubai's commitment to nurturing creativity and storytelling, from the inception of Dubai Media City to the current evolving media ecosystem.

Her Excellency Nehal Badri remarked that the retreat sparked vital conversations across various sectors, reinforcing that cooperation and open dialogues are crucial for a resilient media industry.

The insights and proposals stemming from the retreat will be compiled into a strategic report to steer future policies and initiatives by the Dubai Media Council, fortifying Dubai’s status as a global media hub.
