Las Vegas, Nov 22, 2025 – In an exhilarating display, George Russell, last year's victor at the Las Vegas Formula One, emerged as the fastest in the final practice session for the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Friday. Russell clocked a remarkable lap time of 1 minute 34.054 seconds, just edging out Red Bull's Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, by a slim margin of 0.227 seconds. Alexander Albon from Williams rounded out the top three, finishing 0.821 seconds off Russell's pace.
This final practice set the tone for Saturday night qualifying on the iconic Las Vegas Strip, though rain could pose a challenge. Having topped the second practice session on Thursday, Russell's continued strong performance puts pressure on both his Mercedes teammate and rival contenders.
Meanwhile, McLaren’s Lando Norris, who is currently leading the drivers’ championship, encountered difficulties during the session due to an electrical fault that hampered his track time. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, also faced challenges, suffering telemetry issues to finish in 19th place, while Norris concluded in 20th. Despite their struggles, McLaren has already clinched their second consecutive Constructors’ Championship this season, but they are still vying for their first Drivers’ Championship since 2008.
Thursday night's practice faced interruptions with two breaks due to a possibly loose drain cover on the track. Russell, however, exhibited remarkable consistency and control amid challenges. As the 22nd race of the 24-race F1 season, the Las Vegas Grand Prix promises an exciting night race featuring high-speed corners against a dazzling backdrop.
The spotlight remains on Russell, Verstappen, and McLaren’s championship stars as fans eagerly await the thrilling qualifying session and subsequent race, anticipating fierce competition and surprising outcomes on the demanding Las Vegas street circuit.
