The Middle Eastern Alliance for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Congress (MEAPEN 2026) commenced on June 4 in Dubai, uniting global healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry experts to explore advancements in clinical nutrition and patient-centric healthcare.
This two-day gathering at the InterContinental Hotel Festival City Dubai has attracted over 500 representatives from more than 15 countries. Attendees are participating in 17 scientific sessions featuring over 70 speakers, all focusing on evidence-based nutrition, multidisciplinary healthcare practices, and innovation in medicine.
During the ceremony's opening, Sheikha Shamsa bint Hasher Al Maktoum from the UAE Volleyball Association underscored the vital role of clinical nutrition in modern medicine. She also articulated Dubai's emerging status as a hub for healthcare innovation, scientific collaboration, and global medical dialogue. After the ceremony, she toured the exhibition space, engaging with representatives from various participating organizations.
Organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions, in collaboration with the Emirates Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society (UAESPEN), under the Emirates Medical Association, Dubai Business Events serves as the Official Destination Partner for the event.
The opening ceremony welcomed leaders from healthcare sectors, representatives from global medical organizations, and delegates, emphasizing the crucial role nutrition plays in patient-centered healthcare and collaborative initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
Dr. Wafaa Helmi Ayesh, the Congress President and head of the Emirates PEN Society, communicated that this year's theme, 'Advancing Clinical Nutrition: Bridging Science, Technology, and Patient-Centered Care,' reflects the evolution occurring in clinical nutrition globally.
She stressed that nutritional therapy is essential for improving health outcomes, fostering recovery, and promoting sustainable healthcare systems. The congress's scientific program merges cutting-edge research with practical clinical applications and features top global experts.
Day one of the congress featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and presentations on various topics in clinical nutrition.
Topics spanned enteral and parenteral nutrition advancements, nutrition in ICU and critical care, pediatric needs, oncology, obesity management, diabetes, personalized solutions, and nutrition support for complex health conditions.
A significant discussion point was the increasing influence of artificial intelligence, digital health, and advanced nutritional assessments in enhancing clinical decision-making and patient care.
Updates on nutrition guidelines, innovations in nutritional support, and collaborative healthcare models aimed at improving recovery and patient health outcomes were also explored.
Throughout the sessions, the critical role of nutrition in disease management, recovery, and long-term patient support was underscored, calling for enhanced collaboration among dietitians, physicians, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals.
The congress offers a platform for both regional and international research, with over 50 posters highlighting advancements in nutritional science and healthcare.
Attendees encompass a wide range of professionals from clinical dietitians and gastroenterologists to healthcare policymakers, all representing the Middle East and beyond.
Healthcare professionals participating are eligible for 28 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), facilitating their ongoing professional development.
Support for MEAPEN 2026 comes from several prominent regional and international organizations, including the American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) and various healthcare institutions.
