Gouri Kishan Challenges Body Shaming at Film Promotion

Gouri Kishan Challenges Body Shaming at Film Promotion

Post by : Meena Ariff

During a promotional event for her film Others in Chennai, actress Gouri Kishan encountered body shaming from a journalist. The reporter questioned her weight and made a reference to a scene where the male lead lifts her, which Gouri deemed inappropriate and offensive.

In her response, Gouri labeled the question as "ridiculous" and criticized the underlying attitude as "a disgrace" to the field of journalism. She emphasized that body shaming should never be accepted and questioned whether such remarks would be directed at a male actor in the same confrontational way.

Gouri later released an official statement that addressed the widespread issue of body shaming and unrealistic beauty ideals in the industry. She pointed out that while public figures are often scrutinized, comments focusing on anyone’s appearance or physique are unacceptable.

She also expressed disappointment over the lack of backing from her film crew during this incident and pondered why she was silenced despite being the only woman in attendance. Gouri’s statement calls on others to speak out against body shaming and strive to break the cycle.

This incident has ignited conversations about gender bias and respect in media interactions, shedding light on the persistent issue of unrealistic beauty standards in entertainment.
