HK Express Flight Delayed After Couple’s Onboard Confrontation in Da Nang

HK Express Flight Delayed After Couple’s Onboard Confrontation in Da Nang

Post by : Rameen Ariff

An escalating quarrel between a Hong Kong couple disrupted an HK Express service from Da Nang, Vietnam, to Hong Kong on Sunday, November 2, culminating in a physical altercation that led to both passengers being escorted off the aircraft before departure and a delay of more than an hour.

Local reporting by the South China Morning Post indicates the disagreement began in the departure area at Da Nang International Airport. The woman accused her partner of hiring sex workers and of having assaulted her on October 1. Although the man tried to withdraw from the confrontation, she continued to shout and alleged that “all of Hong Kong knows about your bad deeds.”

The tension carried onto the plane. Seated apart from her partner, the woman demanded to be moved next to him. Cabin crew said seat changes were not feasible, and the passenger grew increasingly agitated. At one point she pushed a flight attendant to the floor, prompting colleagues to intervene.

Onlookers reported the woman sobbing and accusing staff of “bullying” her, while the man told crew members she was “mentally unstable” and unsuitable to fly. Following safety procedures, airline and ground staff removed both individuals from the aircraft.

HK Express said its personnel handled the situation in line with company policy. The carrier confirmed that both passengers disembarked and that Flight UO559 ultimately departed after a delay of one hour and 25 minutes, arriving in Hong Kong at 10:50 PM. The airline apologised to remaining travellers for the inconvenience.

HK Express also praised its cabin crew for their professionalism during the incident and reiterated its zero-tolerance policy for disruptive behaviour on board.
