Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate 70 Air in China, marking its entry into the premium smartphone arena with a striking ultra-slim profile aimed to compete with the iPhone Air. Measuring only 6.6mm in thickness and weighing 206g, the device showcases a celestial-inspired design enriched with gold threads, brocade silk, and a shimmering star-ring effect.
Boasting a 7-inch FHD+ OLED display, the Mate 70 Air is capable of rendering 1.07 billion colors through a P3 wide color gamut and achieving peak brightness levels of 4,000 nits, ensuring vivid visuals and a captivating media experience. Additionally, the phone supports Vivid Audio and HDR certification, enhancing video and gaming experiences.
Durability is enhanced by the inclusion of Kunlun Glass for drop protection and ultra-durable brocade fiber for impact resistance. With IP68 and IP69 ratings, the Mate 70 Air is both water-resistant and dustproof.
Versatile Camera Capabilities
At the rear, the Mate 70 Air is equipped with a robust camera system, featuring a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 12MP telephoto lens with OIS, a versatile 8MP ultra-wide macro lens, and a 1.5MP multispectral Red Maple TrueColor sensor. For selfies and video calls, a 10.7MP ultra-wide front camera is also present. AI enhancements such as AI-assisted composition, Ultra HD Panorama, AI Portrait Retouching, and AI Glare Removal contribute to high-quality photography with creative options.
Exceptional Performance and Battery Longevity
Under the hood, the Mate 70 Air is powered by Huawei's Kirin 9000 series processors, featuring a Kirin 9020B for the 12GB RAM model and a Kirin 9020A for the 16GB RAM variant. Users can opt for 256GB or 512GB storage capacities, with no expandable memory support.
The device is backed by a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery that allows for a slim design while supporting 66W SuperCharge. A vapor chamber cooling system is incorporated for effective heat dissipation, though wireless charging is not available.
Running on HarmonyOS 5.1, the Mate 70 Air comes with features like AI Air Transfer, AI noise cancellation, Tap-to-Share, AI face-swap detection, as well as stylus support for annotations and satellite messaging, complemented by stereo audio capabilities through Huawei Histen.
Pricing and Launch Details
The Mate 70 Air is offered in three elegant finishes: Gold Thread & Silver Brocade, Feather Robe White, and Radiant Gold Black. In China, the pricing begins at 4,199 yuan (about Rs 52,000) for the 12GB/256GB version. The 12GB/512GB and 16GB/256GB models are available at 4,699 yuan (around Rs 58,400), while the premium 16GB/512GB option is priced at 5,199 yuan (approximately Rs 64,600).
With its ultra-slim design, superior performance, advanced camera capabilities, and smart AI features, the Huawei Mate 70 Air emerges as a formidable player in the luxury smartphone market.
