In a stunning showcase of cutting-edge technology, a humanoid robot has surpassed human athletes, establishing a new world record at the Beijing half marathon.
Engineered with a state-of-the-art autonomous navigation system and supported by the Chinese smartphone brand Honor, the robot finished the 21-kilometer race in a remarkable time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This performance corresponds to an average speed of approximately 25 km/h, outpacing all human competitors.
Notably, this timing eclipses the existing men’s half marathon record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds set by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo.
This extraordinary feat underscores the rapid advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence being made by Chinese innovators, heralding a new chapter where machines can rival and even excel beyond human capabilities in endurance sports.
