As of September's end, 32 Cambodian firms have completed registration with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, including eight new entities that joined within the first three quarters of this year, stated Salem AlShamsi, the Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers.
During the “Doing Business with Cambodia” forum, AlShamsi noted that this uptick signifies the considerable investment promise between Dubai and Cambodia. The Chamber aims to further enhance these figures to foster sustainable economic partnerships between the two nations.
He pointed out that Cambodia’s motivation to forge new agreements with Dubai-based businesses underscores the strength of their bilateral relationship and a mutual aim of enhancing economic cooperation. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Cambodia has introduced fresh avenues for trade and investment, catalyzing increased commercial activity and capital flows.
In 2024, non-oil trade between Dubai and Cambodia surpassed US$394 million, establishing a solid foundation for future growth and collaboration. AlShamsi observed that Dubai acts as a strategic hub for Cambodian businesses aspiring for international outreach, offering access to flourishing markets across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, bolstered by cutting-edge infrastructure, global logistics networks, and a business-friendly framework.
The “Doing Business in Cambodia” forum formed part of a Dubai Chamber-led trade mission, gathering a delegation of 16 Emirati business leaders from diverse sectors under the Chamber’s “New Horizons” initiative. This program facilitates Dubai companies to investigate potential in high-potential international landscapes and strengthen connections with emerging economies.
AlShamsi wrapped up by stating that the rising influx of Cambodian firms into Dubai reflects the mutual benefits of enhanced economic relations. He expressed hope that these figures will keep rising as more companies utilize Dubai’s strategic positioning and infrastructure to broaden their global reach.
This evolution highlights Dubai’s stature as a pivotal regional business hub and marks Cambodia as a vital partner for trade and investment. The increasing registration of firms with the Dubai Chamber signifies strong confidence in the city’s business ecosystem and its capacity to facilitate international expansion.
