Each year the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) draws crowds from across the globe — and visitors from India remain among the most active participants. With the 2025–26 edition approaching, many Indian tourists are finalising itineraries, setting budgets and compiling shopping priorities to capitalise on the festival.
Strong people-to-people and commercial links between India and the UAE, plus short travel times, make Dubai an attractive retail destination. The festival’s deep discounts, duty-free pricing and extensive brand presence have cemented DSF as a preferred occasion for Indian buyers seeking savings on apparel, electronics, jewellery and more.
A common first move is reserving air tickets and hotels well in advance. DSF generates heavy demand, pushing up fares and room rates as the festival nears. Travellers often use advance offers from carriers such as Emirates, Air India and IndiGo, and book DSF-focused hotel packages via travel platforms.
Key neighbourhoods for Indian guests include Deira, Bur Dubai, Downtown Dubai and Business Bay, which provide convenient access to top retail hubs like The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates and Deira City Centre.
Many Indian visitors arrive with specific shopping targets: gold jewellery, international fashion labels, fragrances, home tech and smartphones. The Dubai Gold Souk remains a focal point for buyers hunting for purity and design at competitive rates.
Electronics stores such as Sharaf DG, Jumbo Electronics and Emax attract tech shoppers searching for DSF bundles and brand discounts.
To manage temptations, Indian tourists typically allocate funds across shopping, dining and leisure. Many prefer prepaid forex cards or travel cards to limit currency issues and track expenses.
Dubai’s tax advantages stretch visitor budgets further. Shoppers also leverage cashback platforms, loyalty schemes and cardholder promotions from Indian banks partnered with UAE retailers during the festival.
DSF trips often blend retail with sightseeing. Popular stops include Burj Khalifa, Dubai Frame, Palm Jumeirah and Global Village, which frequently showcases cultural acts from India.
Families favour amusement destinations like IMG Worlds of Adventure and Motiongate, while couples might choose Marina dhow cruises or desert safaris as evening activities after shopping sprees.
Raffles and large-scale events are a draw for Indian attendees. From car giveaways to gold draws, DSF features significant prizes. Many plan visits to coincide with fireworks, concerts and celebrity appearances to combine shopping with entertainment.
Apply for a UAE visa early. Processing is usually quick, but starting early reduces the risk of delays.
Use public transport. The Dubai Metro is an efficient and affordable way to travel between malls and attractions.
Pack an extra suitcase. Expect to bring home more purchases than planned.
Monitor exchange rates and opt for cards with international shopping perks.
Stay hydrated and schedule outdoor activities for cooler parts of the day.
The 2025–26 DSF is projected to expand with more global labels, novel retail concepts and technology-driven shopping services. Malls are introducing immersive activations, runway shows and eco-conscious brands, appealing to contemporary Indian shoppers who prioritise innovation and sustainability.
For Indian tourists, the Dubai Shopping Festival 2025–26 represents more than a shopping opportunity — it’s a curated travel experience combining retail bargains, cultural visits and entertainment. With early planning and smart budgeting, visitors can enjoy the full festival offering and return with both savings and memorable experiences.
