Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has marked a significant milestone by completing an expansive project that adds 13 kilometres of roadways across 18 local communities. This endeavor is aligned with RTA’s commitment to accommodate the burgeoning population and facilitate urban development.
Beyond mere road construction, the initiative integrates essential traffic improvements, including roadside parking, pedestrian pathways, and innovative street lighting, all aimed at elevating mobility, safety, and living standards for the citizens.
Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, stated that the new routes have markedly enhanced connectivity by upgrading previously unpaved paths. This development has led to smoother vehicle access into residential zones.
He highlighted that these enhancements have resulted in a reduction of travel times by as much as 40% in certain areas, thus offering a safer, more efficient travel experience.
The project encompasses various residential locales, such as Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za’abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Barsha 1, Al Hudaiba, Al Quoz 1 and 3, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Ramool, Umm Suqeim 1, and Al Mizhar 1 and 2.
RTA reiterated that these improvements are part of its strategic vision to transform into a global leader in seamless and sustainable mobility, continuing its commitment to rapid traffic solutions and significant upgrades in infrastructure to enhance the road network effectiveness and ensure a premium transport experience throughout Dubai.
