Dubai RTA Initiates Inspection of 895 Bus Shelters Ahead of Summer 2026

Dubai RTA Initiates Inspection of 895 Bus Shelters Ahead of Summer 2026

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has kicked off an inspection initiative to assess the readiness of air-conditioned bus shelters and waiting areas for the upcoming summer in 2026.

The initiative encompasses a network of 895 air-conditioned bus shelters distributed across 621 sites throughout the city. The primary goal is to maintain operational efficiency and ensure a comfortable experience for commuters during extreme temperatures.

Abdulrahman Al Janahi, the Director of Buildings & Facilities in RTA's Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, emphasized the authority's dedication to ensuring the functionality of public transport facilities. This campaign includes thorough inspections and preventive maintenance to confirm that all bus shelters are primed for Summer 2026.

Regular field assessments are part of RTA's operational strategy, where inspection teams monitor shelters around the clock, detecting and rectifying any technical issues swiftly. Furthermore, the initiative includes projects to enhance the shelters' performance and operational capabilities.

RTA has also initiated awareness efforts through social media and placed informative signage at bus shelters, urging commuters to maintain cleanliness and protect public facilities.

Additionally, RTA has established official channels for passenger feedback regarding bus shelters, including the “Madinati” service accessible through the RTA mobile app. A dedicated team processes all reports to ensure prompt support and satisfaction among commuters.

Designed to endure challenging weather, the air-conditioned bus shelters boast an eco-friendly architecture. They feature contemporary designs with ample advertising space, contributing to Dubai’s sustainable urban infrastructure.

All shelters are built in compliance with the Dubai Universal Design Code, ensuring they are accessible for People of Determination. They include wheelchair accommodations and digital screens displaying real-time bus information.

With this initiative, RTA aims to elevate public transport services and guarantee comfort, safety, and efficiency for all travelers in Dubai.
