Jacob Elordi's Incredible 10-Hour Transformation into Frankenstein's Creature

Jacob Elordi's Incredible 10-Hour Transformation into Frankenstein's Creature

Post by : Saif Rahman

Actor Jacob Elordi has captured significant attention for embodying Frankenstein’s Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s latest film. To effectively portray the character, Elordi underwent a meticulous transformation process. A behind-the-scenes video shared by Netflix showcases how the actor dedicated nearly 10 hours in the makeup chair as skilled artists applied prosthetics to his body and face.

Elordi was selected for the role just nine weeks prior to filming. Originally, Andrew Garfield was approached for the part but ultimately stepped away, allowing Elordi to step in. Mike Hill, the head of the makeup department, noted that Elordi’s impressive height of 6 feet 5 made him an ideal choice for the character. More importantly, Hill cited Elordi’s ability to convey depth and emotion, which brought the creature to life in a relatable manner on screen.

The transformation process was painstakingly detailed, featuring approximately 42 prosthetic pieces in total to achieve the full creature appearance — 14 pieces dedicated solely to the head and neck. The prosthetics were strategically assembled to form a cohesive look, delivering a realistic effect. The removal of the makeup itself was a hefty task, taking nearly 9 hours, with the team utilizing an inflatable sauna in Elordi's trailer to help detach the materials from his skin.

This cinematic adaptation revisits the classic Frankenstein narrative, blending elements of horror and science fiction. The plot revolves around a gifted yet overambitious scientist who animates a creature through his experiments, leading to unforeseen tragedy and chaos. The new film delves into profound emotional themes such as loneliness, identity, and what it means to be human.

The star-studded cast features Jacob Elordi, Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, and Charles Dance. The film has garnered acclaim from both critics and audiences alike, with many hailing it as one of Guillermo del Toro’s finest works, particularly praising Elordi’s exceptional performance and unwavering dedication.
