People magazine has selected English actor Jonathan Bailey as its 2025 "Sexiest Man Alive," an accolade announced during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The moment has drawn widespread attention to the 37-year-old performer.
Best known for portraying Lord Anthony Bridgerton on Netflix's Bridgerton, Bailey said he felt both honoured and amused by the recognition. He quipped that, so far, only his dog Benson has been let in on the news, downplaying the media buzz around the award.
Bailey is gearing up to return to cinemas in the musical sequel Wicked: For Good, reprising Prince Fiyero after appearing in the franchise's 2024 prequel inspired by The Wizard of Oz. This year he also expanded into action, appearing in the dinosaur thriller Jurassic World: Rebirth.
The "Sexiest Man Alive" distinction is a long-running cultural marker published annually by People. Previous recipients include names such as Idris Elba, Channing Tatum, Chris Hemsworth and Adam Levine; John Krasinski held the title in 2024.
Across theatre, television and film, Bailey's versatile body of work and growing international profile have reinforced his reputation as a compelling actor admired for both his craft and charisma.
