Malaysia Hosts Global Halal Summit 2025 to Boost Integrity and Sustainability

Post by : Raman

Malaysia has opened its doors to the world as it hosts the prestigious Global Halal Summit (GHaS) 2025 from September 16 to 26. The summit brings together 92 recognised halal certification bodies and participants from 47 countries, marking a significant step in promoting the halal industry worldwide. Delegates include ambassadors, policymakers, academics, and industry leaders, reflecting a collective commitment to advancing the global halal ecosystem.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi welcomed all attendees, expressing pride in Malaysia’s role as a strategic bridge for halal integrity, sustainability, and resilience. “It is an honour to host you in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya. Malaysia is proud to serve as a strategic bridge for integrity, sustainability, and resilience in the halal world,” he said in a public statement.

Ahmad Zahid, who also chairs the Halal Industry Development Council of Malaysia, highlighted that the summit is a key platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and partnership development. He expressed hope that the summit would foster new ideas and opportunities that benefit countries participating while contributing to a trusted and sustainable global halal industry.

Global Halal Summit 2025: Theme and Objectives

The theme of this year’s summit, ‘Integrity, Sustainability and Resilience,’ captures the essence of the challenges and opportunities facing the halal industry today. The summit aims to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in trade, certification, production, and regulation of halal products and services. By bringing together experts and leaders from various countries, Malaysia seeks to create a roadmap for the future of the halal economy that balances economic growth with ethical and sustainable practices.

Integrity remains a cornerstone of the halal industry, ensuring that products meet religious and legal standards while maintaining consumer trust. Sustainability addresses the environmental, economic, and social responsibilities of halal production, focusing on reducing waste, promoting renewable resources, and supporting local communities. Resilience reflects the industry’s ability to adapt to challenges, including supply chain disruptions, changing consumer demands, and global economic uncertainties.

International Participation and Collaboration

With participants from 47 countries, the summit highlights Malaysia’s global leadership in halal affairs. Delegates include experts from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, each bringing unique perspectives on certification, manufacturing, trade, and innovation. The summit fosters cross-border collaboration, allowing countries to learn from each other’s best practices and adopt strategies that improve product quality and consumer confidence.

Halal certification bodies play a vital role in maintaining standards and ensuring compliance. At GHaS 2025, these organisations will showcase innovations in auditing, traceability, and compliance systems. Such collaboration ensures that halal products are not only religiously compliant but also meet international quality and safety standards.

Economic and Trade Impact of the Halal Industry

The global halal market has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, driven by rising demand for halal food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and financial services. Countries like Malaysia have leveraged their strong regulatory frameworks, experienced workforce, and cultural expertise to position themselves as leaders in the global halal economy.

By hosting GHaS 2025, Malaysia aims to strengthen trade relationships, attract investment, and promote halal exports. The summit is expected to open doors for businesses to access new markets, explore partnerships, and enhance their competitiveness. The presence of high-level policymakers also underscores the role of governments in creating supportive environments for halal industries to thrive.

Knowledge Sharing and Policy Development

One of the key objectives of the summit is knowledge sharing. Delegates will participate in workshops, panel discussions, and presentations that address emerging trends, regulatory updates, and innovative technologies in halal production. Topics include halal supply chain management, digital solutions for certification, sustainable sourcing, and ethical practices.

Policymakers are using the summit to discuss regulatory frameworks that balance global trade demands with local industry growth. These discussions are crucial for harmonising halal standards worldwide, facilitating smoother international trade, and protecting consumers from fraudulent practices.

Role of Malaysia in the Global Halal Industry

Malaysia has long been recognised as a global leader in halal affairs. The country’s robust regulatory system, high-quality certification processes, and strategic geographic location make it an ideal hub for halal trade. By hosting GHaS 2025, Malaysia reinforces its position as a centre for innovation, research, and policy development in the halal sector.

The country’s commitment to halal integrity ensures that products meet strict religious and ethical standards, gaining the trust of Muslim consumers worldwide. Sustainability initiatives further enhance Malaysia’s reputation as a responsible leader in global halal trade.

Future Outlook

The Global Halal Summit 2025 is more than a conference; it is a platform for shaping the future of the halal economy. By emphasising integrity, sustainability, and resilience, the summit seeks to create a stronger, more unified global halal market. The knowledge shared, partnerships formed, and innovations discussed are expected to drive economic growth, improve standards, and strengthen consumer confidence in halal products worldwide.

GHaS 2025 in Malaysia provides a critical opportunity for international stakeholders to collaborate, exchange ideas, and develop strategies that advance the global halal industry. Malaysia’s leadership and vision for halal integrity, sustainability, and resilience demonstrate the country’s commitment to promoting a trusted and thriving halal ecosystem for the benefit of all nations.
