West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for a Supreme Court-supervised inquiry into the death of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader, Ajit Pawar, following a plane crash in Baramati. She raised significant concerns about the circumstances surrounding the incident, suggesting a potential political motive.
While addressing the public, Mamata expressed her profound shock at the tragic event. She highlighted that political figures are increasingly at risk in the nation and posed questions regarding the crash's circumstances. Banerjee noted recent political shifts, hinting at Ajit Pawar's anticipated return to his party’s foundational stance.
According to Banerjee, the Supreme Court is the only authority capable of ensuring an unbiased investigation, alleging that central agencies may be compromised. She extended her condolences to Ajit Pawar's family, especially his uncle Sharad Pawar, and the citizens of Maharashtra.
Ajit Pawar was one of five individuals who perished when a chartered plane crash-landed at Baramati airport in Pune. The aircraft, operated by VSR Ventures based in Delhi, resulted in the tragic loss of all onboard, including crew members, as confirmed by the DGCA.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has also called for an investigation but has not connected it to political issues. He expressed profound sorrow over Ajit Pawar’s passing, conveying condolences to the Pawar family, supporters, and well-wishers.
Kharge remarked on Ajit Pawar's legacy as an experienced politician who made significant contributions to Maharashtra and will be remembered for his commitment and leadership.
