Manchester City has officially inaugurated a cutting-edge £10 million facility for its Women’s First Team at the City Football Academy, representing a significant step forward in investing in women’s football.
Spanning 17,000 square feet, the new facility is tailored to deliver top-notch training, recovery, and performance support for players, marking one of the most significant investments in a dedicated women’s football environment in the UK.
The complex includes a state-of-the-art gym equipped with specialized strength and conditioning apparatus, medical and rehabilitation zones, physiotherapy rooms, and hydrotherapy and recovery settings. Advanced technology has also been incorporated throughout the facility to enhance player performance, minimize injuries, and streamline recovery.
At its core is Manchester City’s uniquely designed circular dressing room, aimed at fostering team cohesion and enhancing player development.
This facility is intended as a permanent base for the squad while ensuring connectivity with Manchester City’s broader football operations at the City Football Academy, which also houses the 7,000-capacity Joie Stadium, the first stadium specifically built for the Women’s Super League.
Moreover, the space includes social areas and personalized elements, featuring photographs of players alongside their families. Names of players with over 100 appearances are showcased alongside the club’s nine major trophies secured since 2014.
Khaldoon Al Mubarak, Chairman of Manchester City Women, stated that this initiative encapsulates the club’s ongoing dedication to women’s football.
He emphasized the club's commitment to creating the finest atmosphere for players and staff to thrive and excel since the professional re-launch of Manchester City Women in 2014.
Charlotte O’Neill, the Managing Director, indicated that the facility is crafted to enable players to perform at peak levels while continuing their quest for trophies.
Recently, Manchester City Women clinched the Women’s Super League title and are poised to lift the trophy this Saturday after achieving an unblemished home record at both the Joie and Etihad Stadium this season.
Since 2014, the club has triumphed in nine major trophies and is set to contend in the FA Cup Final on May 31.
