Masdar City Free Zone has strengthened its position as one of the UAE’s most influential business ecosystems after winning three major awards, reflecting its rapid expansion, strong entrepreneurial support, and leadership in innovation and technology.
The recognition follows an exceptional year of growth, with the free zone recording a 36 percent rise in the total number of companies operating within its ecosystem. This marks a significant 172 percent year-on-year increase, as nearly 1,000 new businesses joined in 2025 alone.
With more than 2,000 registered companies, Masdar City Free Zone has become a preferred destination for start-ups, which now account for over half of its business community. Employment opportunities also saw a strong upswing, growing by 33 percent, representing a 71 percent annual increase.
The free zone has earned particular praise for its support of small and medium enterprises. Flexible licensing options, cost-effective business packages, and simplified regulatory processes have helped SMEs establish and scale operations with ease. A key feature of the ecosystem is its advanced flexi research and development laboratory, which enables innovation and product testing across multiple industries.
Masdar City Free Zone continues to attract companies working in high-impact sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean energy, agritech, life sciences, smart mobility, and space technology. Its innovation-driven environment is further strengthened by collaboration between start-ups, global corporations, research institutions, and investment partners.
With a 99 percent occupancy rate and businesses representing more than 90 countries, Masdar City Free Zone is playing a vital role in advancing Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification goals, offering a future-ready platform where ideas, technology, and sustainable growth come together.
