Morgan Stanley is stepping into a space long overlooked by Wall Street—private companies. The investment bank is rolling out a new research solution aimed at providing detailed insights into private firms, venture capital movements, and their influence on traditional industries.
Historically, private companies received limited analyst attention because they aren’t publicly traded and their financials are not routinely disclosed. This new initiative seeks to fill that gap, offering investors a clearer picture of emerging startups and high-growth firms.
The move follows a trend among Wall Street peers. Some leading banks have already published analyses on several high-profile private firms, signaling that the private market is becoming a key area for institutional research.
The research product will combine data-driven insights with thematic analysis, helping clients understand how private companies are shaping sectors like technology, finance, and healthcare. It’s also part of a broader strategy to expand the bank’s leadership in thematic research.
Morgan Stanley is hiring additional analysts to support this initiative, reflecting the increasing demand from investors eager for early insights into private-market opportunities. The initiative is seen as a strategic step to keep pace with changing market dynamics, where private startups often set trends before public companies respond.
