In an electrifying encounter held at Eden Gardens, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a breathtaking last-ball win against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), largely due to the remarkable performance of young wicketkeeper-batter Mukul Choudhary.
Facing a daunting target of 182, LSG was in a tight spot until Mukul rose to the occasion. After an initially guarded approach, the 22-year-old exploded into action, finishing with an impressive unbeaten score of 54 runs in just 27 balls. His daring batting played a pivotal role in clinching victory on the very last ball of the game.
Interestingly, Mukul’s potential was already recognized by his teammate Arjun Tendulkar, who had praised his exceptional six-hitting capabilities during practice. Arjun highlighted Mukul’s unique ability to strike the ball all around the field.
With 54 runs left in the final four overs, Mukul showcased remarkable composure against top bowlers like Cameron Green, Kartik Tyagi, and Vaibhav Arora. His powerful shots and calm demeanor turned the tide in favor of LSG.
Rishabh Pant, the LSG captain, applauded Mukul’s innings, emphasizing the necessity of faith and belief in fostering talent. He noted that this performance indicates something significant brewing within the team.
Head coach Justin Langer also expressed admiration for Mukul, drawing comparisons between his running and that of Virat Kohli, as well as his finishing instincts to those of MS Dhoni. Langer emphasized Mukul’s athleticism, awareness, and steadiness as key traits that distinguish him.
This remarkable performance not only clinched a vital win for LSG but also marked Mukul Choudhary as a bright talent to keep an eye on in the Indian Premier League.
