In a meeting held at the Arab League's Cairo headquarters, Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, laid out his vision and key priorities aimed at bolstering joint Arab action and enhancing the performance of the General Secretariat.
The gathering featured permanent representatives from member states, including Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al-Thani, the Qatari Ambassador to Egypt.
Fahmy emphasized that reforming the Arab League and strengthening its strategic role is a collective responsibility. He highlighted that successful initiatives are contingent upon robust collaboration between the General Secretariat and all member nations.
He urged a focus on practical approaches that identify specific priorities, set reachable goals, and constantly assess the outcomes of these initiatives.
Fahmy conveyed the details of his correspondence with the Arab foreign ministers following the commencement of his term as Secretary-General, outlining the primary objectives for the forthcoming phase.
He shared his strategy to enhance both the Arab League’s capabilities and the overall framework of joint Arab initiatives.
The Secretary-General introduced several proposals aimed at elevating the institutional productivity of the General Secretariat, designed to equip it to more effectively fulfill its responsibilities and adapt to future challenges.
Fahmy underscored that ongoing backing from member states is crucial for the success of these transformative strategies.
