Nepal's House of Representatives and National Assembly Meetings

The House of Representatives will begin its meeting at 11:00 am, while the National Assembly's meeting is scheduled for 1:15 pm.

The main discussion in the Lower House will be on the Appropriation Bill, 2082. The tentative agenda includes talks on topics from seven ministries, such as the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock

Development, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs. There will also be proposals for spending cuts in various ministry sectors during these discussions.

The President of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee in the House of Representatives, Ramhari Khatiwada, will present the report on the ‘Nepal Citizenship (Second Amendment) Bill, 2082.’

In the meantime, parliament members from the Rashtriya Swatantra Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party are blocking the parliament proceedings, demanding the formation of an investigation commission to look into the ‘Visit Visa’ scam and calling for the resignation of the Home Minister.

In the Upper House meeting, line ministers will address questions about the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.

Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, will respond to questions regarding the annual revenue and expenditure estimates for the fiscal year 2082/83.

Kamala Pant, the President of the NA Committee on Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance, will present a study report on Nepal’s progress from being a Least Developed Nation to a Developing Nation.

The Finance Minister will also present a proposal to send the ‘Customs Bill, 2080’ to the Legislative Management Committee for detailed discussions.

Finally, a condolence proposal will be presented to mourn the passing of Constituent Assembly member Birendra Juharchan and former House of Representatives member Dhundiraj Shastri.
