Netanyahu Expresses Sympathy Following Delhi Explosion, Reaffirms Support for India

Netanyahu Expresses Sympathy Following Delhi Explosion, Reaffirms Support for India

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, has shared profound sympathies with India in the wake of the recent explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, which resulted in nine fatalities and left 20 individuals hurt. In a message posted on X, Netanyahu highlighted the joint battle against terrorism faced by both India and Israel, acknowledging the fortitude exhibited by both nations.

“To our esteemed friend Narendra Modi and to the courageous citizens of India: Sara and I, alongside the people of Israel, offer our sincere condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. Israel stands firmly with you in both grief and strength during these challenging times,” he stated.

He continued, “India and Israel, both ancient cultures founded on unyielding principles, will not be shaken by acts of terror. Terrorists can target our cities, but they will never extinguish our spirits. The brightness of our nations will certainly eclipse the shadows cast by our adversaries.”

The blast has been linked to the Pakistan-based terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, reportedly orchestrated over several months with multiple targets set throughout Delhi and the National Capital Region, including Gurugram and Faridabad. Among those detained, three medical professionals—Shaheen Saeed, Muzammil Shakeel Ganale, and Adeel Rather—are currently in custody, with Dr. Umar Nabi suspected of being the suicide bomber.

Following Netanyahu’s remarks, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also shared his condolences with the families of the victims, expressing wishes for a quick recovery for the injured and reiterating Israel’s commitment to supporting India in eradicating terrorism.

Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar characterized the incident as “heart-wrenching” and commended the actions of rescue personnel and security teams. “The scenes in Delhi following the car explosion are tragic, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the victims’ families and wish a swift recovery to the survivors. Kudos to the rescuers and law enforcement,” he conveyed via X.

These expressions of solidarity from Israel highlight the robust diplomatic relations and mutual security concerns bridging the two nations, reinforcing a united stance against global terrorism.
