In a significant move to bolster its international trade relationships, Dubai has inaugurated the Cyprus Business Council under the auspices of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. This new entity aims to serve as a specialized platform to foster trade, investment, and collaboration across various sectors between businesses in Dubai and Cyprus.
The establishment of this council arrives at a time when economic interactions between Dubai and Cyprus are on the upswing. In 2024, non-oil trade between the two reached AED588 million, a clear indicator of increasing commercial engagement and investment interest. By the close of Q3 2025, there were 612 Cypriot businesses actively participating in the Dubai Chamber, including 71 that registered in the initial nine months of the year.
The council's first Annual General Meeting was held recently in Dubai, uniting key officials and representatives from both nations. Participants emphasized the collective objective of broadening business avenues, facilitating market entry, and nurturing technology-focused and sustainable initiatives.
The Cyprus Business Council is positioned to aid enterprises in establishing enduring partnerships, uncovering investment possibilities, and adeptly navigating the fast-evolving business landscape of Dubai. Its formation also solidifies Dubai's stature as a prime destination for global firms aiming to expand regionally and internationally.
The business councils, operating under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, play a vital role as conduits between the emirate and global economies. They advocate for investors from specific nations, ensuring their needs are met, while working in tandem with the chamber to amplify bilateral economic endeavors. The addition of the Cyprus Business Council injects new energy into these initiatives, underscoring the sustained confidence in Dubai as a key international business center.
