Numbness Warning Linked to Serious Diseases

Numbness Warning Linked to Serious Diseases

Post by : Shakul

Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has officially confirmed that numbness in the hands and feet can be a warning sign of serious underlying health conditions. The clarification comes after monitoring by the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand (AFNC), which identified the topic as one of the most widely discussed and verified health-related claims online.

According to the ministry, while numbness is often harmless—such as when caused by sitting or lying in one position for too long—there are cases where it may indicate severe medical issues. Verified by the Institute of Neurology under the Ministry of Public Health, symptoms like sudden numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, vision problems, or loss of balance could point to conditions such as stroke and require immediate medical attention.

Health experts also warn that persistent numbness lasting days or weeks, numbness accompanied by weakness, difficulty moving limbs, or loss of bladder control should not be ignored. Rapidly spreading numbness from the fingertips or ongoing coordination issues are additional red flags that require urgent consultation with a healthcare professional.

The DE Ministry also raised concerns about the growing spread of misinformation online. Authorities urge the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to avoid sharing unconfirmed news. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious content through the Anti-Fake News Center’s official channels to help prevent the spread of misleading information and protect public health awareness.
