A shocking and disturbing incident has come to light from Odisha, where a man allegedly dug up his deceased sister’s grave and brought her skeleton to a bank. The unusual act was reportedly done to prove that his sister had passed away, after bank officials refused to allow him to withdraw money from her account.
According to reports, the man had been trying to withdraw around ₹20,000 from his sister’s bank account. However, bank staff insisted that the account holder must be physically present to complete the transaction. Despite informing them multiple times about her death, his request was not accepted.
Frustrated by repeated rejection and unaware of the proper legal process required for such cases, the man took the extreme step of exhuming his sister’s remains. He then carried the skeleton to the bank in an attempt to convince officials about the situation.
The incident shocked both bank employees and local residents. Authorities were informed, and the matter quickly drew attention due to its sensitive and unusual nature. Officials are now looking into the circumstances and whether proper procedures were clearly communicated to the man.
Experts say that such cases highlight a lack of awareness among the public regarding legal and banking procedures after a person’s death. At the same time, it also raises questions about how institutions handle sensitive situations involving grieving families.
The incident has triggered strong reactions on social media, with many people criticizing rigid systems and calling for more humane approaches in dealing with such cases. Users have pointed out the need for better awareness campaigns and simpler processes.
Authorities are expected to review the situation and ensure that such incidents do not happen again. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of both public awareness and compassionate handling of sensitive matters.
