The National Museum of Oman has inaugurated a remarkable exhibition and cultural festivities for Oman Day, titled “The Splendor of Silver: Collections from the Omani Court” at the National Museum of Fine Arts in Minsk, Belarus. This event serves to highlight the emerging cultural connection between Oman and Belarus, aiming to enhance friendship and collaboration between the two nations. Visitors can enjoy the exhibition until March 18, 2026.
Featuring Omani silver as one of the nation's oldest and most cherished traditional crafts, this exhibition presents rare silver artifacts previously utilized by Omani sultans in Muscat and Zanzibar. These treasures illustrate the significance of silver in both royal existence and daily Omani life, symbolizing beauty, protection, and the craftsmanship that has been handed down through the ages.
The event's inauguration took place under the patronage of Her Highness Dr. Mona bint Fahd Al Said, who emphasized the importance of fostering cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Oman and Belarus. She remarked that such exhibitions pave the way for new avenues of intellectual and cultural collaboration, uniting people through shared heritage and art.
Divided into five primary segments, the exhibition covers the Omani dagger, perfume traditions, silver craftsmanship, traditional garments, and elite fashion. Guests can discover the history and significance of the Omani dagger, admire vintage perfume bottles from the early days of Amouage, and investigate silver jewelry intended for decoration, dowries, and financial security.
Additionally, a section is dedicated to traditional and elite attire that connects to Oman's history in East Africa. These displays allow visitors to delve into Oman’s rich cultural identity and the profound link between art, history, and everyday life. The exhibition champions cultural cooperation and elevates Oman’s heritage on an international platform through museum diplomacy and artistic exchange.
