Post by : Badri Ariffin

Set to take place in June, the UAE Games 2026 organized by Special Olympics UAE promises to unite over 1,000 athletes from across the nation, aimed at fostering sports inclusion for People of Determination.

The event will kick off with Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics, hosted at Circle Mall, Dubai, in collaboration with Wellfit Gymnastics Academy. Following this, competitions will proceed at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi and Zayed Sports City – Khalifa International Bowling Center.

Athletes featuring diverse intellectual and developmental disabilities, alongside coaches, unified partners, and technical staff, will compete, including international representatives from Special Olympics Morocco and Malta in select events.

The sports agenda encompasses men’s basketball, 3x3 women's basketball, 7-a-side football, badminton, powerlifting, bocce, and bowling, alongside the Motor Activity Training Program, which showcases the country's expanding inclusive sports spectrum.

Significant partners such as ADNEC Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aldar Properties, ADNOC, and the Ministry of Sports ensure the success of the UAE Games 2026, with contributions from various sports federations and clubs.

Additionally, Special Olympics UAE will conduct a Partners Platform Day that brings together organizations, recognizes existing partners, and fosters future cooperation through signed agreements.

His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, National Director of Special Olympics UAE, emphasized that the success of the games is indicative of robust collaboration between public and private entities, reinforcing the empowerment of People of Determination in society.

A biennial event, the UAE Games previously saw over 600 competitors in 2024, supported by numerous officials and volunteers.

The upcoming edition in 2026 is set to feature initiatives like the Golisano Health Leadership Awards, Young Athletes Program, esports competitions, Games of the Future, and the Fit 5 fitness program.

Through the UAE Games 2026, the spotlight remains on increasing inclusion in sports while underscoring the nation’s commitment to empowering People of Determination as integral members of society.
