A devastating incident occurred at a glue factory in Faisalabad, Punjab, on Friday, where a boiler explosion tragically claimed the lives of at least 15 workers, leaving seven others injured. The explosion sent shockwaves through the area, severely damaging the factory structure and nearby residences.
Authorities confirmed the arrest of the factory manager linked to the disaster, while the factory owner is currently a fugitive, evading capture. Investigations are ongoing to establish the precise cause of the explosion.
A fire also erupted following the blast, compounding the chaos. First responders and local officials swiftly intervened to assist the injured individuals and manage the scene. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended her condolences to the families affected and directed officials to ensure comprehensive medical assistance for the victims.
Sadly, such industrial accidents, often attributed to inadequate safety measures, are a common occurrence in Pakistan. Faisalabad has previously experienced similar incidents, including a textile mill boiler explosion in 2024 which injured numerous workers. Just last week, a firecracker factory explosion in Karachi resulted in four fatalities.
Investigators and local police are actively scrutinizing the factory site and questioning employees to uncover the reasons behind the boiler explosion. Authorities are stressing the necessity for stringent safety regulations to avert future tragedies.
