Malaysia’s Immigration Department has detained a Pakistani man suspected of using the department’s official logo and warning lights on a vehicle, less than 24 hours after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the man was detained during a special operation at 4.30pm on August 11, 2026, at PV3 Platinum Hill Condominium in Setapak.
Zakaria said the operation was carried out after immigration authorities gathered intelligence from a widely shared video.
The video showed a vehicle displaying the Immigration Department logo and being used by a foreign national.
Following the information obtained from the video, immigration officers conducted an inspection at the condominium premises and detained the Pakistani man.
During the same inspection, authorities also detained an Indonesian woman who was found to have overstayed in Malaysia.
Immigration officers also discovered two Indonesian passports in the Pakistani man's possession.
The passports are believed to belong to other individuals, according to the Immigration Department.
