Global fashion retailer Primark has officially launched its first UAE flagship store at the iconic Dubai Mall, marking a major expansion into the Middle East retail market.
The massive 7,000-square-metre outlet is one of Primark’s largest global stores, featuring over 350,000 items across categories including men’s, women’s, kidswear, beauty, footwear, and home essentials. The store also employs around 600 staff members, reflecting the scale of the operation.
The launch is being managed by Alshaya Group, which partnered with Primark to bring the brand to the Gulf region after nearly 18 months of planning and development.
CEO John Hadden emphasized that the brand’s core strategy remains unchanged — offering trendy fashion at highly affordable prices without relying on discounts or loyalty programs.
Originally founded in Dublin in 1969 under the name Penneys, Primark has grown into a global retail giant known for its value-driven model. The Dubai flagship mirrors international stores by launching collections simultaneously with Europe, with potential for even earlier releases due to supply chains based in Asia.
Despite ongoing regional uncertainties, the company has moved ahead with the launch, signaling confidence in the UAE’s retail sector and consumer demand.
Industry experts see the move as part of a broader trend of global brands expanding aggressively in the Middle East, particularly in Dubai, which continues to position itself as a leading international shopping destination.
The opening of Primark’s flagship store is expected to attract significant footfall and further strengthen Dubai’s reputation as a global retail hub.
