PureHealth Achieves Prestigious AAHRPP Accreditation for Research Excellence

PureHealth Achieves Prestigious AAHRPP Accreditation for Research Excellence

Post by : Badri Ariffin

PureHealth, the dominant healthcare provider in the Middle East, has been awarded full accreditation by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs for its principal institutions, SEHA and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City. This accolade underscores the organization's rigorous standards in clinical research and ethical conduct.

SEHA and SSMC’s research initiatives are coordinated through the Abu Dhabi Health Research Centre, acting as PureHealth’s primary research facility. The centre supervises research endeavors across 16 hospitals, primary healthcare clinics, and state-of-the-art laboratories throughout Abu Dhabi, currently supporting over 200 active studies spanning early-phase trials, comprehensive clinical trials, and translational research.

Achieving AAHRPP accreditation signifies adherence to the highest global benchmarks for the protection of human subjects in research. The voluntary and stringent peer-review process it entails goes well beyond the minimum regulatory demands. SEHA and SSMC will hold this certification for three years, demonstrating PureHealth’s effective governance framework and steadfast dedication to excellence in ethical research.

In light of this accomplishment, Shaista Asif remarked on the establishment of a research platform that aligns with international standards, enhancing Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a premier hub for clinical research and life sciences innovation.

Elyse I. Summers, AAHRPP President and CEO, extended her congratulations to PureHealth, highlighting the organization's dedication to safeguarding research participants and upholding superior ethical standards.

The accreditation is crucial in attracting global sponsors for clinical trials, offering assurance of robust ethical governance and operational excellence. This significant milestone further cements PureHealth's role as a reliable partner for intricate clinical trials, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s emergence as an international center for advanced healthcare research.
