Strengthening Security: Qatar Engages with Singapore and Malaysia

At the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 in Singapore, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Thani, conducted significant meetings with key officials from both Singapore and Malaysia.

On Friday, Sheikh Saoud had separate discussions with prominent figures including Singapore's Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defense, Chan Chun Sing; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan; and Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam, in addition to Malaysia's Minister of Defense, Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

The agenda featured crucial conversations regarding the evolving security landscape, the enhancement of military alliances, and collaboration to tackle various regional challenges. The officials shared insights on mutual concerns and identified avenues for bolstering defense and security ties among their nations.

These discussions highlighted Qatar, Singapore, and Malaysia's dedication to fostering strong relations on security issues and ensuring regional stability through open dialogue and teamwork.

Qatar's Ambassador to Singapore, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Almalki Al Jehani, along with senior officials and military representatives from both nations, participated in the talks.
