Surge in Global Participation at Dubai’s Arabic Language Award

Dubai: The 10th edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Arabic Language Award has reached a significant milestone, reinforcing Dubai's status as a global center for culture and knowledge initiatives.

Hosted by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library and the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, this year's award recorded unprecedented participation, underscoring the increasing global importance of the Arabic language.

This year, the award attracted 2,683 submissions, including 677 completed projects, highlighting a remarkable rise in innovation within language sectors. In total, 3,664 entries were received from individuals, teams, and organizations, reflecting the award's growing international presence.

Submissions hailed from 52 countries, with six nations participating for the first time, pointing to an expanding global engagement and the pivotal role of Arabic in enhancing cultural exchange and knowledge dissemination.

Emerging Trends and Categories

Education led the categories this year, emphasizing its critical role in advancing and preserving the Arabic language. Other prominent categories included:

  • Culture, thought, and knowledge development

  • Applications in technology and artificial intelligence

  • Media and communications

  • Language policy and Arabisation

The increasing emphasis on technology and AI indicates the evolving relevance of Arabic in today's digital landscape.

Official Commentary

H.E. Bilal Al Budoor, Secretary-General of the Award, remarked that the impressive participation showcases the award's institutional evolution and the surging global interest in Arabic as a dynamic, ever-evolving language.

He emphasized Dubai and the UAE's commitment to advancing international efforts that bolster Arabic in critical sectors like education, innovation, and technology.

Awards and Future Vision

The award features a total prize fund nearing AED 2.8 million, aimed at recognizing outstanding contributions and fostering innovation in the Arabic language.

Initiated under the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this initiative aligns with a broader strategy to:

  • Boost the global standing of Arabic

  • Encourage its deployment in modern sectors

  • Refine teaching methods to match digital advancement

Global Influence

Since its launch, the award has established itself as a leading international platform, supporting significant contributions to the Arabic language. It actively promotes linguistic innovation and strengthens Arabic's role in science, technology, and cultural domains.

This initiative is crucial for cultivating a sustainable ecosystem that preserves cultural identity while aligning with global developmental objectives.
