The textile sector in Turkmenistan continues to grow steadily, with a wide range of fabrics from the Ruhabat Textile Complex now available at the «Altyn Asyr» marketing center in Ashgabat. The development highlights the country’s focus on strengthening its textile industry.
Turkmenistan, historically known as a major sericulture center along the Silk Road, is building on its legacy by expanding modern textile production. The «Altyn Asyr» center has become a key destination for buyers seeking high-quality fabrics under the “Made in Turkmenistan” label.
The center offers a diverse collection of materials, including gabardine, satin, viscose, poplin, cotton flannel, ripstop, tarpaulin, and cretonne. Most of these products are manufactured at the Ruhabat Textile Complex, which has been operational since 2010.
The complex has evolved into a fully integrated production hub, combining spinning, weaving, and dyeing processes. It produces blended yarns using domestic cotton mixed with polyester and lycra, and also fulfills customized orders, many of which are exported internationally.
Recently, the product range has expanded to include new fabric types in modern shades and floral patterns, particularly designed for outerwear. In addition to raw materials, the complex also manufactures finished goods such as traditional headscarves, tablecloths, and prayer rugs.
The high quality and unique national identity of Turkmen textiles have helped them gain recognition in global markets. International certifications and growing interest from foreign partners reflect their strong competitiveness.
The government is also encouraging innovation in the textile sector by introducing online purchasing platforms. Looking ahead, the upcoming Turkmen Textile Expo in Ashgabat will showcase the industry’s achievements and future potential, combining tradition with advanced technologies.
