Samsung has launched the third beta iteration of One UI 8.5, based on Android 16, designed for its premier foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Currently, this update is rolling out in South Korea, with plans to extend to additional regions shortly.
This beta release centers on boosting system stability and rectifying various issues reported by early adopters from previous versions. The firmware version ends in ZZD3 and incorporates six key bug fixes aimed at optimizing the user experience.
Key enhancements include addressing a problem where the lock screen's weather AI background would turn black unintentionally when toggling the screen. Samsung has also corrected misalignments in the phone and call screen interfaces, as well as a glitch preventing the top status bar from disappearing during immersive activities like gaming and video playback.
Further improvements involve fixing a missing send button for sharing links via text messages and rectifying a bug that caused images not to display when set on the cover screen. Additionally, a camera-related issue that resulted in the app crashing on launch has also been resolved.
This rollout is exclusive to users participating in the One UI 8.5 beta testing program. Eligible users can access the update through the software update section in their device settings.
Samsung is anticipated to continue enhancing the software through upcoming updates, reaffirming its commitment to boosting performance and reliability in its foldable devices ahead of a global launch.
