Sharjah has taken a significant stride in fortifying its media and creative industries. On Wednesday, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, witnessed the signing of multiple strategic partnership agreements. These agreements were executed between Sharjah Media City (SHAMS) and 14 notable authorities and institutions throughout the emirate.

The signing event took place at the Sharjah Media City headquarters. The primary objective of these partnerships is to bolster the film industry, enhance creative content production, and lay the groundwork for a fully integrated media ecosystem that can transform Sharjah into a global media destination.

Strengthening Sharjah's Media Landscape

During the ceremony, His Highness commended the collaborative spirit among various government sectors and emphasized that this unity will elevate professional standards, nurture new media skills, and keep the emirate aligned with global media trends.

He stated that this collaboration is vital for creating a cohesive media message for Sharjah, ensuring that content emanating from the emirate embodies its cultural identity, developmental objectives, and future aspirations. This enhanced cooperation further supports Sharjah's ambitions to attract more investments and talent within the media sector.

The 14 Entities Collaborating with SHAMS

The strategic partnership agreements feature collaboration with a diverse array of governmental and private sector entities, including:

  • Sharjah Police

  • Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security

  • Sharjah International Airport Authority

  • Environment and Protected Areas Authority

  • Sharjah Digital Department

  • Sharjah Civil Defence Authority

  • BEEAH Group

  • Sharjah Municipality

  • Sharjah Archaeology Authority

  • Sharjah Museums Authority

  • Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq)

  • Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority

  • Air Arabia Group

  • Invest Bank

These partnerships span critical sectors such as security, environment, digital services, tourism, investment, transportation, and heritage. Their engagement highlights Sharjah's comprehensive approach to fostering media growth and innovation.

Prominent Leaders in Attendance

The signing ceremony was attended by various key dignitaries. Notable figures included:

  • Sheikh Saud bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Director General of the Sharjah Digital Department

  • Sheikh Salem bin Mohammed bin Salem Al Qasimi, Director of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority

Additionally, senior officials and representatives from economic and investment institutions were present, emphasizing the significance of this initiative for Sharjah's future.

Support for the SHAMS Studios Initiative

At the core of these agreements is a commitment to the SHAMS Studios project, which is anticipated to emerge as a leading media production destination in the region. SHAMS Studios represents part of Sharjah's broader strategy to enhance its media infrastructure and establish itself as a powerhouse in film and creative production.

The vision aims to cultivate an advanced ecosystem where filmmakers, media firms, startups, and content creators have access to state-of-the-art facilities. Through these studios, Sharjah seeks to attract premier local, regional, and international talent.

A Hub for Creative Content Production

SHAMS Studios will significantly contribute to the mission of Sharjah Media City, providing an extensive range of tools for film, digital media, and content creation, including:

  • Pre-production assistance

  • Filming and shooting venues

  • Post-production technology

  • Editing and visual effects facilities

  • Sound and audio design tools

This all-encompassing infrastructure ensures that creative concepts can be transformed into high-caliber media projects that align with international standards. The studios are also set to inspire new talent and young creatives to delve into filmmaking and content creation in Sharjah.

Advanced Facilities: Five Major Studios

During the event, His Highness reviewed a comprehensive presentation on the SHAMS Studios infrastructure. The project comprises five major studios, each varying from 1,500 to 3,400 square meters, tailored for extensive film shoots, commercial productions, documentaries, and premium creative projects.

The studios will also feature specialized areas for:

  • visual effects

  • editing departments

  • sound design studios

Such facilities are crucial for creating films, digital campaigns, advertisements, and streaming content that meet global benchmarks.

Enhancing Sharjah’s Presence Regionally and Globally

With these partnerships and the evolution of SHAMS Studios, Sharjah is set to position itself as a principal center for film and creative content within the region. The emirate aims to become a hub for:

  • international filmmakers

  • media companies

  • creative startups

  • content producers

This initiative is projected to enhance the emirate's economy, generate employment opportunities, and draw investments from both local and international markets. It will also further cultural storytelling, promoting Sharjah’s identity through media.
