Actor Shilpa Shirodkar has returned to the big screen with the mythological horror film Jatadhara and is actively promoting the project after years away from mainstream cinema. Co-starring Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, Shilpa used recent media appearances to reflect on her close relationship with Telugu star Mahesh Babu, who is married to her sister and former Miss India Namrata Shirodkar.

In conversation with host Prema, Shilpa described Mahesh as "one of the kindest souls" she has known. She said she admires him not only for his performances but for his personality, noting he shows no malice or envy and genuinely wishes success to others. Mahesh Babu, respected in Tollywood for both his stardom and humility, frequently acknowledges and supports films across industries. Asked about a potential on-screen collaboration with him, Shilpa smiled and said she hadn’t pursued the idea yet, adding, "Let’s see how Jatadhara does."

Shirodkar first rose to prominence in 1990s Hindi cinema with titles such as Khuda Gawah (1992) and Hum (1991). After appearing in Gaja Gamini (2000) she stepped back to focus on family life following her marriage to Aparesh Ranjit. She later returned through television projects like Ek Mutthi Aasmaan and Silsila Pyaar Ka, and re-entered films with Guns of Banaras (2020). With Jatadhara she is exploring a new genre in her cinematic comeback.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu, fresh from the 2024 release Guntur Kaaram, is collaborating with celebrated director SS Rajamouli on a large-scale action-adventure currently referred to as SSMB 29. The project, which includes names such as Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has drawn wide attention. Mahesh and Namrata, who have been married for more than twenty years, are parents to Gautam and Sitara, both of whom have shown an interest in performance and acting.
