Singapore Probes Fire on Container Ship at Port

Singapore Probes Fire on Container Ship at Port

Post by : Shakul

Singapore authorities have launched an investigation into a container fire that broke out aboard the London-registered vessel Ever Lenient at the Pasir Panjang Terminal. The incident raised safety concerns, although swift action ensured the situation was brought under control without disrupting port operations.

The Singapore Maritime and Port Authority confirmed that the blaze was successfully extinguished, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the cause of the fire. Officials are working closely with relevant agencies to assess the situation.

Firefighting operations were led by the Singapore Civil Defence Force, which responded quickly to the emergency. The MPA also deployed patrol craft to secure the surrounding waters and used drones to provide aerial surveillance during the operation.

Authorities stated that cooling operations are still ongoing to ensure there is no residual heat that could reignite the fire. These precautionary measures are part of standard safety protocols following such incidents.

PSA Singapore has been assisting with the safe discharge of the affected containers from the vessel. Officials confirmed that all necessary safety measures have been implemented to protect workers and maintain smooth operations at the terminal.

The MPA noted that it was alerted to the incident earlier and had immediately deployed emergency response teams, including three patrol craft and firefighting units. Their coordinated efforts helped contain the fire efficiently.

Investigations are currently underway, and authorities are expected to provide further updates once more details about the cause of the fire are established.
