Tyrese Maxey scored 39 points, including 23 in the fourth quarter and overtime, to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a thrilling 139-134 win over the Washington Wizards. The Sixers remained unbeaten this season after rallying from a 19-point deficit. Philadelphia was down 126-116 with less than three minutes left but finished regulation with a 17-4 run to force overtime. Quentin Grimes’ clutch three-pointer tied the game at 126 with only 38.7 seconds to play.
In overtime, Washington took an early five-point lead, but the Sixers quickly answered with six straight points. Maxey scored nine of Philadelphia’s 13 points in the extra period, sealing the win from the free-throw line in the closing moments. Joel Embiid contributed 25 points in just 23 minutes, while Grimes added 23 points. Philadelphia showed strong resilience, with Maxey emerging as the star performer of the night.
Alex Sarr led Washington with an impressive 31 points and 11 rebounds, supported by Kyshawn George, who scored 20 points. Despite their strong start and a dominant third quarter, the Wizards could not maintain control in the closing minutes. Their defense collapsed as the Sixers capitalized on every mistake to turn the game around.
In Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo once again delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 37 points to help the Bucks beat the New York Knicks 121-111. Giannis scored 23 of those points in the second half, leading the Bucks from a double-digit deficit. He also added eight rebounds and seven assists, showing his all-around dominance. Ryan Rollins scored a career-high 25 points to support the Bucks’ comeback.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 36 points, while Mikal Bridges contributed 24 points and 11 rebounds. However, the Knicks lost momentum in the final quarter, dropping their second straight game after starting the season 2-0. Brunson also appeared to struggle with a leg injury late in the game, which limited his movement and affected the Knicks’ rhythm.
The Golden State Warriors dominated the Los Angeles Clippers 98-79 in San Francisco, ending the Clippers’ seven-game winning streak against them. Jimmy Butler III scored 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers, without attempting a single free throw. Stephen Curry added 19 points and eight assists, helping the Warriors control the game from start to finish.
James Harden scored 20 points, all in the first half, as the Clippers led 49-46 at halftime. However, they managed just 30 points in the second half as the Warriors’ defense tightened. The Clippers shot only 36.6% from the field and 18.2% from beyond the arc, their lowest point total since 2021. Ivica Zubac contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to stop Golden State’s dominance.
The Oklahoma City Thunder improved to 5-0 after defeating the Sacramento Kings 107-101. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led with 31 points and nine rebounds, scoring crucial points in the final minutes. Aaron Wiggins and Mitchell added 18 points each as the Thunder maintained their perfect start despite missing Chet Holmgren due to a back issue.
In Miami, Jaime Jaquez Jr. scored a season-high 28 points off the bench to help the Heat defeat the Charlotte Hornets 144-117. Bam Adebayo added 26 points, while Andrew Wiggins contributed 21. LaMelo Ball led the Hornets with 20 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds but struggled with shooting accuracy. The Heat displayed excellent teamwork, securing their third win in a row.
It was an eventful night in the NBA, filled with comebacks, record performances, and dominant wins. Tyrese Maxey and Giannis Antetokounmpo stood out as the stars of the night, proving their leadership and skill. The Sixers and Bucks strengthened their records, while the Warriors and Thunder showed they remain strong contenders early in the season.
