Two skiers are being praised for saving a man who was buried under deep snow at a ski resort in California. The rescue happened at Palisades Tahoe during heavy snowfall and near whiteout conditions.
The incident took place between the KT and Olympic Lady ski runs. One of the rescuers, Carson Schmidt, later shared the rescue video on social media. The footage quickly went viral.
While skiing through deep powder, the two men stopped briefly and noticed the tips of skis sticking out of the snow. Realizing someone was buried underneath, they rushed to the spot and began digging urgently.
Within moments, they uncovered a skier who had been completely trapped under the snow and was struggling to breathe. The man appeared disoriented but alive after being freed.
The video highlights how dangerous deep snow conditions can be, even without an avalanche or tree well. Experts say falls in heavy snow can cause snow immersion suffocation within seconds.
Many viewers praised the skiers for their awareness and quick action, noting that a small delay could have resulted in a fatal outcome. The incident serves as a reminder to ski with a partner and stay alert in extreme weather conditions.
