Sunita Ahuja, known for her forthright views and wife of veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, has spoken out about her husband’s expensive religious rituals and the people who influence him. She said the family priest promotes elaborate pujas that can cost lakhs and, in her view, offer little real benefit.
She maintained that genuine devotion is shown through personal faith and good deeds rather than high-priced ceremonies, and added that she prefers direct charitable acts as a route to good karma. Sunita also claimed Govinda is often led astray by those around him, including individuals who call themselves writers but, she alleges, lack creativity and sincerity.
On his career, Sunita said Govinda intends to produce three films but that progress is being stifled by poor guidance and untrustworthy partners. She further expressed worry about his health, urging him to focus on fitness and personal care.
Sunita believes some people close to Govinda speak against her deliberately, creating friction in their marriage. The pair, married since 1987, have recently been the subject of separation rumours.
Professionally, Govinda has kept a low profile, with his last release, Rangeela Raja (2019), failing to perform at the box office.
