A big accident happened near Lahore on Friday evening when a passenger train called the Islamabad Express went off the tracks. This happened in a place called Kala Shah Kaku, which is about 50 kilometers away from Lahore. The train was going from Lahore to Rawalpindi when the accident took place.
Officials said that ten coaches of the train derailed, meaning they came off the railway tracks. Because of this, at least 30 passengers got hurt, and three of them were badly injured. The train had left Lahore just half an hour before the accident happened.
As soon as the accident was reported, rescue teams reached the spot quickly. They started helping the passengers who were stuck inside the train coaches. Many people got first aid right there, while others with serious injuries were taken to hospitals nearby.
Rescue workers worked all night to save the trapped passengers and clear the damaged train coaches. Thankfully, no one died, but the situation was still very serious.
The country’s Railways Minister ordered senior officers to go to the accident site and check the rescue work. He also said there will be an inquiry to find out how the accident happened, and a report must be given within seven days. He promised that if someone made a mistake or was careless, they would be punished.
He also said that passenger safety is very important and the railway system needs to be made safer to avoid such accidents in the future.
The country’s Prime Minister also felt very sad about the accident. He prayed for those who were injured and told the rescue teams to work faster. He also asked doctors to give the best treatment to those who got hurt.
Local news said that more than 1,000 passengers were rescued from the train. Big machines were brought in to move the broken train coaches and clean the railway tracks.
This accident has made many people worry about railway safety in the country. There have been other accidents in the past, too, because many railway lines are old and not well-maintained. The report from the inquiry will help in finding the exact cause and making things better.
