Truecaller, the well-known communication platform, has rolled out an innovative AI-driven voicemail service specifically for Android users in India. This complimentary feature aims to revolutionize the management of voice messages by allowing users to save them directly on their devices. This offers a level of control, security, and privacy that traditional voicemail systems cannot match, eliminating the need for phone calls or remembering access codes.
The updated Truecaller Voicemail includes robust protection against spam and scams, helping users steer clear of undesired calls. It offers intelligent call categorization, adjustable playback speeds, and instant message transcription in 12 Indian languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Nepali, Punjabi, Sanskrit, and Urdu. This functionality allows for convenient reading of messages when listening might not be an option.
Setting up Truecaller Voicemail is a breeze and can be completed in just a few seconds, providing users with unlimited voicemail capabilities directly through the Truecaller app. By making voicemail inherently device-based and seamlessly integrated with its calling functionalities, Truecaller is reinforcing its position as an essential tool for daily communication.
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, remarked, “Traditional voicemail was designed for a very different time. With Truecaller Voicemail, we are redefining voice messages for today’s users. On-device storage, immediate transcription, and spam defenses eliminate the restrictions of outdated systems, delivering a reliable and user-friendly experience. It also embraces a diverse range of local languages, making the service more inclusive and pertinent for users throughout India.”
Truecaller has a considerable global footprint in the communication space, boasting over 450 million active users and surpassing a billion downloads since its inception in 2009. In just 2024, the app successfully blocked approximately 56 billion unwanted calls. Based in Stockholm, Truecaller has been publicly traded on Nasdaq Stockholm since October 2021. This new AI Voicemail feature is anticipated to further bolster its role in safeguarding users against spam, promoting secure communications, and updating the calling experience.
The introduction of this service demonstrates Truecaller’s commitment to continual innovation in voice and messaging technologies. By incorporating AI transcription, local language accessibility, and sophisticated spam filtering, the platform aspires to deliver a streamlined, efficient, and personalized communication experience tailored for Indian users. It also paves the way for more extensive use of AI tools in routine mobile communications, helping users stay organized, informed, and secure while navigating through voice messages.
