Trump Approves $1.5M Revamp of Lincoln Memorial Pool in Iconic Blue

Trump Approves $1.5M Revamp of Lincoln Memorial Pool in Iconic Blue

Post by : Badri Ariffin

U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed plans for a significant renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., opting for a new vibrant “American flag blue” finish for the site.

The president criticized the current granite surface as “leaking like a sieve” and stated that a complete granite overhaul would cost around $301 million and take several years.

In search of a quicker and more economical solution, Trump has decided to clean the pool and apply an industrial-grade coating valued at $1.5 million, which should be finalized in a matter of weeks.

His inspiration stemmed from comments made by a visiting friend from Germany who described the water as unappealing. He recounted a less-than-pleasing experience visiting the site with Secret Service members.

Initially contemplating a turquoise hue inspired by Bahamian swimming pools, Trump eventually agreed with a contractor’s proposal for a shade of “American flag blue.”

The project is being executed by a contractor familiar to Trump from his earlier real estate ventures.

Set to be completed before the Fourth of July, this renovation is timely for the upcoming 250th Independence Day celebrations in the United States.

The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool stands as one of Washington’s most renowned landmarks, situated between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument, famously associated with Martin Luther King Jr.’s legendary “I Have a Dream” address.
